Shift
2:00 PM to 11:30 PM, Monday to Saturday. This shift covers the full MCX trading session including the evening commodity market extension. This is a non-negotiable shift requirement — apply only if this works for you.
About The Role
MCX commodity markets run an extended session compared to equity — opening in the afternoon and closing late evening for international commodity-linked contracts. This role exists specifically to own that window. You are the person who ensures that every MCX trading terminal, every network link, and every backend application is live and performing from the moment the session opens to the moment EOD processes complete.
You will work at the intersection of network infrastructure and trading application support — handling leased lines and Cisco equipment on one side, and OMS/platform stability and broker coordination on the other. This is a hands-on, incident-first role where speed of diagnosis and calmness under pressure are the most important qualities.
Key Responsibilities
Network Infrastructure & Connectivity
- Manage and monitor leased lines providing dedicated connectivity to MCX and back-end trading infrastructure throughout the shift
- Operate and maintain Cisco networking equipment — switches, routers, and firewalls — ensuring stable, low-latency connectivity during live market hours
- Configure and maintain IP addresses, DNS records, and LAN/WAN parameters for trading systems and connected endpoints
- Monitor link quality, packet loss, and latency continuously during the MCX session and respond to threshold breaches immediately
- Coordinate with ISPs and leased line providers on outages, degradation, or failover switching during the live market window
- Maintain network segment segregation between trading systems, back-office, and general office traffic
- Document all network configurations, topology changes, and incident resolutions accurately
Trading Application Support
- Monitor MCX trading platform stability and application performance throughout the afternoon and evening session
- Provide Level 1 and Level 2 support for trading terminals and the OMS/RMS connected to MCX — diagnose and resolve issues before they impact live orders
- Collaborate directly with stock brokers and dealers on network and application issues during market hours — clear, calm, and fast communication is essential
- Escalate unresolved issues to vendors or senior IT with full incident documentation to minimise resolution time
- Manage pre-session checks before 2:00 PM: confirm platform connectivity, terminal readiness, and network health
- Support the CTCL / ODIN / Greeksoft platform configuration and troubleshoot session-level issues
- Coordinate with MCX's exchange IT helpdesk on connectivity certifications and technical escalations
BOD / EOD & Operational Close
- Execute Beginning of Day (BOD) checks for the MCX session: verify all systems, connections, and terminal logins are live before market open
- Run End of Day (EOD) processes at close: settlement file generation, data backup, platform shutdown procedures, and exception logging
- Ensure all EOD reports and settlement-related outputs are generated, verified, and filed before shift end
- Maintain a daily shift log documenting incidents, resolutions, configuration changes, and any outstanding issues for handover
Requirements & Skills
Required Skills
- Networking fundamentals: IP addressing, DNS, DHCP, LAN/WAN configuration
- Hands-on Cisco equipment experience: switches and routers, IOS CLI commands, basic troubleshooting
- Leased line management: familiarity with dedicated internet and MPLS connectivity in a brokerage context
- Trading application support: OMS / terminal troubleshooting, session management, connectivity issues
- Calm and structured problem-solving under live market pressure — downtime during MCX session has direct financial consequences
- Clear verbal and written communication for real-time broker coordination
- 1-4 years of IT support or network operations experience, ideally in a time-sensitive environment
Good To Have
- Hands-on BOD / EOD process experience on Greeksoft back-office platform — this is a significant advantage
- Prior working experience at a SEBI / FMC-registered stock broker or commodity broker
- Familiarity with MCX exchange connectivity, CTCL certification process, or FIX/IBAPI protocols
- CCNA certification or equivalent structured networking training
- Experience with ODIN, NOW, or other NSE/MCX-certified trading platforms
- Knowledge of commodity market structure — base metals, energy, agri contracts on MCX
- Experience with network monitoring tools: PRTG, Nagios, or Zabbix
Education
- B.E. / B.Tech (CS / IT / Electronics) or BCA / MCA / B.Sc IT with strong hands-on networking and support experience
- Candidates from Surat engineering colleges (SVNIT, Nirma, DPIAICT) with internship or part-time brokerage IT exposure are encouraged
- CCNA or equivalent is a positive signal — practical ability matters more than the certificate alone
What We Evaluate
Strong Signals
- Has worked an evening or split shift before — understands what it means operationally and has no issues with the 2 PM to 11:30 PM schedule
- Can describe a live trading connectivity incident they resolved under pressure — what the issue was, how they diagnosed it, and how long it took
- Has touched Greeksoft BOD/EOD workflows, even partially — this is rare and valuable
- Prior experience at a broker, sub-broker, or brokerage IT vendor — already understands the stakes of trading infrastructure
- Can configure a Cisco switch or router from the CLI without looking up basic commands
- Asks about MCX session timings, leased line redundancy, or failover during the interview — shows operational awareness
Red Flags
- Has only done desktop / helpdesk support — no network or trading application ownership
- Cannot work the 2 PM to 11:30 PM shift consistently — do not apply if this is not sustainable for you
- Unfamiliar with what a leased line is or how it differs from standard broadband in a trading context
- Escalates everything to vendors without attempting first-level diagnosis independently
- No awareness of MCX, commodity markets, or what BOD/EOD means in a broking context
- Communication under pressure is unclear or reactive — brokers need calm, direct status updates during incidents
Interview Process
Short, practical, and direct. We need to confirm shift alignment, network fundamentals, and trading infrastructure awareness. No trick questions.
- Round 1 — Async written screening: three scenario-based questions — a leased line failure during MCX session, a Greeksoft EOD issue, and a Cisco switch misconfiguration (48-hr turnaround)
- Round 2 — 40-min technical interview with IT Lead: network fundamentals, past trading support work, Cisco CLI basics, and shift commitment confirmation
- Round 3 — Practical assessment (in-person or remote): live troubleshooting walkthrough on a sample network or trading application scenario
- Round 4 — 15-min final conversation with Operations Head: work style, reliability, long-term fit
